Roleplay Sample[/color]:
There was always something alluring about the night. The stillness of the air and the cooling of the earth had always seemed rather inviting to Jaceryn. But then, he could no longer remember the way the sun felt on his skin, or what the morning air smelt like, save for the scent of sunlight and dew he often caught on humans as they passed him by. The scent often left the ancient creature longing to meet the sunlight, to feel the warmth on his skin before his body evaporated in a curtain of shimmering cerulean flames, but he could never bring himself to meet his true death. There was still so much he had to do, an unfinished list of things that were to come before he could ever meet the true death. So, until then, he would walk the earth, as silent and as cold as the night, remaining in the shadows of the world until his mission was complete. Some, like his second in command, Shaundi, thought he was deranged, others thought his plight was too much for one man. And yet, so many believed as he did, so many knew what the risks were, and knew that they had to fight if they ever wanted a proper place in the world. The Rebel's Front was all he had to live for, all he had to show that he was alive... technically speaking. Aside from that, he had nothing. There was no reason for his existence. Nothing that he could claim he'd done to warrant a grasp on his 'life' or whatever it could be called.
Alone in the night, he knew better than anyone what happened when you held on too tight to something. He'd feared the loss of his sister after his father had been slaughtered, he'd feared turning out like the man who had abused his entire family. And while he hadn't turned out like his father, he hadn't been able to save Tifynee from anything. While his memories of his human life were weak at best, he remembered the feeling of love he'd had when thinking of his sister. He had no one now to reciprocate that feeling, no one to make him see that there was more to the world than cold nights and cruel battles.
A soft hum of sighs left the vampire as he straightened, staring up at the crescent moon with resolve in his cerulean hues. In all his years, not once had he ever given his heart. What could he ever offer to someone? He was undead... the living dead. Sure, his body produced some form of life, but he had no beating heart, no warmth. Shifting, his hands shoved into the pockets of his heavy military coat, Jaceryn turned on his heel, walking silently down the streets of Shreveport, his eyes downcast as he mulled things over. It wasn't safe to be walking around in the open, but so far, no one outside of his own rebellion knew of the presence of the Rebel leader, so for now, he was safe. Not even the Authority knew that he was amassing an army, and he hoped it would stay that way for a hell of a long time. The essence of surprise would be needed if they wanted to get one up on the Authority.
Contemplating many things, he barely noticed the young woman - and yes, she was young, so much younger than he - as she made her way to the small car park opposite the strip of clothing stores. It was her scent that caught his attention first. With humans, they smelled generic: cheap perfumes that masked their natural odour, whatever food they'd eaten that day, and barely distinguishable from each other. But this woman, this young girl with the slender figure, wide eyes and dark hair, she smelled of an exotic array that made him lift his head. The faint tang of oranges tickled the back of his nose, mixed with sandalwood and spices, and a gentleness that he'd never come across before. Her own female scent was not hindered in any way by the perfume she seemed to wear, and he took in a deep breath, taking her scent in as he watched her cross to her car. She was beautiful, and not just in her appearance, but in her scent. Her very presence had captured not only his attention but his desires, something he had sworn he'd locked up deep within himself.
It wasn't like he forced himself on anyone, but he didn't see the need or desire to glamour those who interested him into doing what he wanted. Which was why, before the Japanese had created the synthetic blood he drank now, he'd only ever glamoured his victims enough so they wouldn't remember when he fed, and he never killed. To kill is to make oneself noticed, and he had no desire to do that. Shifting his thoughts back to the woman, he caught another scent, and stepped back to the shadows, watching her with piercing blue hues as a shape stepped from behind her car. He could tell almost immediately it was a vampire, and as he watched, realising too late what was happening, his eyes took in the sight of the girl's blood splattering across the hood of her car. In a flash he was by her side, one arm cradling her close as he wrenched the vampire off her, blood streaming free from two puncture wounds in her neck.
"...Insolent child," he whispered, his fangs clicking out as he pulled the vampire close. He had yet to come across one of the children of the night who could match him in strength, and he almost smiled as the boy struggled against him. "I suggest you find your meal elsewhere... This one," he tilted his gaze down at the girl, taking in her pale skin and the way she was limp against him, and he frowned, "is not on the menu. Now, get lost before I lose my temper and put you down myself."
The vampire hissed and pulled at his hand, whimpering briefly when Jaceryn's grip tightened before the elder released him. When he had fallen back, the kid took another brief look at the girl before he was gone, disappearing into the night. The elder sank down, holding the girl tight in his arms as he looked down at her. So much for admiring her life, her frail mortality. His fingertips gently caressed her cheek, his eyes on hers as he felt her heartbeat lessen. The vampire had taken more than he'd realised, and in his attempt to pull him off her, Jaceryn had unwittingly made the puncture wounds bigger by ripping his fangs out. Cursing softly at his own stuff up, he swallowed. He could either allow the girl to die, and never know if she'd be the one to bring him out of the darkness, or give her a chance at another life, not a necessarily better life, but a life all the same. He just wanted it to be her decision. He would not force his life on anyone.

Dean Winchester Romeo mad by stealing it now would you?
He'd have to come after you with a stick. It wouldn't be pretty,
now go play nice and don't steal her stuff.
