By all rights Destiny should have spent the last three years in FTL. By all rights the crew should have spent the last three years in stasis, waiting to awaken upon entering Earth’s galaxy. By all rights, between Rush and Eli’s calculations, nothing should have gone wrong.
But things did go wrong. Horribly Wrong.
Eli spent the first year of FTL alone, tinkering with the broken stasis pod and recording his thoughts with the kinos and editing his vast collection of video files from them. He was more certain than ever that, at that very moment, whatever he recorded was important. At first everything was on track. The stasis pod was almost fixed. The other pods were functioning properly and Destiny’s stores of power were all normal – well, considering they weren’t at full when everyone went into stasis…
That’s as well as things went, however.
Eli found out that despite all of his efforts for the last year and a half that the broken stasis pod would remain just that – broken. With food supplies at a low Eli was sure he was going to die. He began to hallucinate, seeing things from the countless planets they’d been to in the past roaming the halls when they weren’t really there. Soon after that he began to hear things. Voices, sounds and screams, as well as cries for help that he swore were coming from his friends - who were still peacefully in stasis. After that first year, Eli went mad.
The second year Destiny’s power began to significantly drop, forcing her out of the FTL to restore her depleted stores. With luck she was able to restore her power levels to full without being spotted by the alien ships. However she didn’t jump straight into FTL after that. Why? Eli couldn’t figure that out and for the next year Destiny floated through a remote universe.
Six months later Eli disappeared from all of Destiny’s main level, retreating deeper into the ship, exploring Destiny.. Fixing Destiny..
Four months later the gate room’s power was activated of its own accord. The gate activated itself and the wormhole opened, flooding the gate room with its beautiful brilliant, watery light. That’s when they came through the gate.
Destiny is once more home to living creatures – individuals of humans and Jaffa alike. How did they find Destiny? Are they scholars, looking for the meaning behind it all as Rush did? Curious about her potential, how she was made and what her purpose is? Or are they interested in her for one reason and one reason alone? Pure destruction of other worlds? Will Destiny ever see Earth’s the home galaxy of the Tau’ri? Will the crew in stasis ever awaken?
This isn’t just your destiny or mine. There is no certainty when it comes to the threads of fate.
